Join Us In Prayer

If you wish to meditate and pray with us at Inner Path, please know that we do so at approximately 3:00 PM (PST). Our period of prayer and meditation includes an opening prayer, an inspiring reading, chanting, meditation, an affirmation, and the Divine Mother prayer.

You are welcome to join us in Spirit or if you’re at Ananda Village, visit the Inner Path Showroom in Rajarsi Park. At some point we hope to have our prayer service shown live on-site so others can more dynamically join us.

Opening Prayer – Our opening prayer is different each day but usually includes something of the following: “Heavenly Father, Divine Mother, Friend, Beloved God. Jesus Christ, Babaji/Krishna, Great Masters of all religions, we bow to each of you. Beloved Spirit we give you our life – body, mind and soul – to be transformed into the Perfection that You seek for our life. May we be an instrument of healing, sharing Your Light and Love with all in need. Lord, give us Thyself, that we may give Thee to all.”

Inspiring Reading – At present we read from Paramhansa Yogananda’s Spiritual Diary which includes inspiring quotes for each day of the year.

Chanting – We usually sing a chant written by Yogananda, Kriyananda or a classical Indian chant. Some examples of this can be found on Kirtan Radio and in the Chanting section of the Inner Path Store.

Meditation – Our meditation period lasts a brief 5 minutes and is meant to help us center prior to doing the healing prayers. If you don’t know how to meditate, a simple yet effective way is to simply watch the breath, paying attention to the in and out flow. Yogananda suggests saying a mantra while one does this, mentally chanting Hong with the incoming breath and Sau (pronounced “Saw”) with the outgoing breath. (Hong Sau means “I am He.”) Don’t try to control the breath. Simply pay attention.

The Inner Path Affirmation – The affirmation we do is meant to magnetize our work at Inner Path. Yogananda suggests that affirmations be stated four times. First loudly, then in a common speaking voice, then as a whisper and finally inwardly. (For more information on the value of affirmations and how to use them, consider these books from the Affirmation section of the Inner Path Store.)

The specific affirmation we use is as follows:

“May Inner Path express Thy Truth.
May Inner Path awaken souls.
Service and joy overflow.
Wisdom and abundance overflow.
Thy will be done.
Thy will be done.”

This is followed by rubbing the hands together and chanting Aum (Om) three times.

The Divine Mother Prayer – This is one of the classic healing prayers taught by Paramhansa Yogananda. We begin by thinking of those for whom we would like to pray and envisioning healing energy flowing into them. We then say in unison:

“Divine Mother, Thou art omnipresent. Thou art in all Thy children. Thou art in these ones. Manifest Thy healing presence in their bodies, minds and souls.”

This is followed by rubbing the hands together, holding them up, and chanting Aum (Om) three times.

More detailed information about this prayer can be found in the section entitled Learn To Pray.
